First impressions for my 4-night stay were bad, and although things did improve after that, I don't plan to stay here again. When I arrived to check-in, I was early, and reception said they could check me in early but I would have to pay a $40 fee, not something I’ve experienced in any other hotel in Sydney or anywhere else in the world. Then when paying the security deposit straight after that, I asked if I could use Apple Pay and they said I could but the fee would be $100 rather than $10, leaving me wondering what the next fee I would be asked for would be. They then decided to check me in without the $40 fee, and I used a card for the security deposit. Management insisted that these are their policies, meaning that people who like me don't like this money-centred approach need to choose other hotels. The room was also small, and there’s no kettle. Yes there’s coffee in reception but it’s much more convenient to have it in the room, and this facility is standard in other Sydney hotels. The air conditioner in the room also didn't work properly, but a positive was that hotel reception readily moved me to another room. Although this room was the same room type, it had a better layout and I ended up staying a further night. Cleanliness of the rooms is excellent, and the housekeeping staff were very friendly. Location is also excellent, being just a 5-minute walk from Central Station.
